BanksyMS help pages
For beginners
BanksyMS is a Content Management System (CMS) for producing Web Applications that can be integrated easily with web page content. Right now, I think it is really for small sites, but if I get a chance at a big customer, I will change my mind immediately about that. It encourages the productio of pages that are consistent with modern standards in html. These pages explain how to manage a web site in BanksyMS. They should get you started on editing content, adding and hiding pages, managing pictures and so on. There are really only about 3 help pages you should read to get you started with editing existing pages:
- Editing - the basics. This page should get you started on editing page content. Make it easy on yourself! Start by editng some existing paragraphs to get the feel of things. Try fixing the error that appears in this paragraph. Then add a paragraph to a section and delete it just for fun. When you feel really confident, add a whole section.
- Working with pictures. This page describes how to manage pictures in your site and add or delete them on pages.
- Working with links. This page explains how to link text on your pages to other pages. There are slightly different methods for doing this, depending on whether the page you want to link to is external (on another web site) or in internal (on this site).
Moving on
Once you mastered the basics of page editing, you are ready to learn how to do more advanced stuff. The following pages show how to do the most common things:
- Working with pages. This page explains how to create pages, hide them from view and contol the order in which they appear in menus.
- Building up a page. This page is more advisory in nature. It suggests good practices for building up new pages that keep them consistent with good web page construction principles.
